A good beginning is half the battle won. For their finals, cadets from the Department of Aerospace Engineering at the R.O.C. Air Force Academy who chose the optional subject [Mechanics and Analysis of Composite Materials] took four weeks to design their submissions, select materials, decide techniques to apply, and uploaded their finished submissions online for viewing. Their works were made using carbon fiber and fiberglass prepregs, plain woven carbon fiber fabrics, anisotropic fiberglass fabrics as well as deal boards and walnut boards. The tools used include wire saws, disc grinders, circular saws, drilling machines, hot press machines, and diamond cutters. We would like to greatly thank Qing-Rong Li, Military Instructor from the Department of Aviation Mechanical Engineering for his guidance to the cadets during creation of their submissions.
