The 226-kilometer, world-renowned IRONMAN Triathlon International Invitational came to an end in Kenting on April 12, 2015.
The tournament was authorized by the World Triathlon Corporation, and athletes from all over the world came to Southern Taiwan to fight for one of the 25 spots in the Ironman World Championships. Ironman also provided two world cards to the World Championships to the winners of Men’s and Women’s divisions of the Taiwan tournament, so that they can compete on the global stage as well.
The Ironman team from the R.O.C. Air Force Academy was led by Head Flight Instructor Major Jin-jun Wang, and Advisor & Physical Training Instructor Major Tai-zhi Lu. Team members included Cadet Corps’ Platoon Leader Lieutenant Xian-zong Lin, and 4th year cadets Nian-ting Huang and Cheng-hong Ceng placed 5th, 4th and 6th, respectively, in the M18-24 group. The result is extraordinary for first-time Air Force Academy participants, and it is clear that the Academy plans to promote this sport and provide extensive training for its cadets.
