The Open Barracks Activities conducted by the Ministry of National Defense (MND) attracted tens of thousands of visitors from the general public. In order to have more positive interactions with the public, the MND will continue to hold three open barracks days respectively in Fengshan, Hualien, and Zuoying. It has also arranged a series of static exhibitions, as well as presentation of military drills and exercises. MND welcomes the public to visit.
This year, there will be a total of three open barracks sessions, hosted respectively by the Army, Navy, and Air Force Command Headquarters. The dates and venues are as follows: June 4 at the R.O.C. Military Academy in Fengshan; August 13 at the Hualien Air Force Base; and November 12 at the Zuoying Naval Base in Kaohsiung. The activities will “primarily feature static exhibitions with a focus on dynamic activities, i.e. the presentation of military drills and exercises”, to raise public awareness on national defense.
In static exhibitions, the showcase will include major armaments and equipment the armed forces, military antiques and historic documents, and tours at the barracks. Meanwhile, there will also be a variety of events including fairs and art exhibitions.
As for dynamic activities, performances will include drills by the Thunder Tiger Aerobatics Team, aerial flyover of jet fighters, and the performance of the Honor Guard of R.O.C. The event will also feature armament displays, and martial arts demonstrations such as Chikwondo and bayonet fighting.
Furthermore, there will be recruitment stations and medical service on site, providing services ranging from health screening to career consultations. The public is encouraged to use these services.
