ACH-1/TCH-1 Chung-Shin Attack Trainer
History
The ACH-1 was designed and made by ROC Air Force Aero Industry Development Center (AIDC) in 1976, equipped with a 1,450 hp T-53-L-701A turboprop engine. Its maximum speed is 360 nautical miles per hour and service ceiling is 25,000 feet. It carries two 0.50-inch machine guns, and can be equipped with four 2.75-inch and four 5-inch rockets, or two LAU-60 rocket launchers.
It came into the Air Force service for the basic flying training of the Academy’s cadets from 1970 to 1977 with the model of TCH-1. It has been reequipped as an attacking aircraft (ACH-1) to carry out missions of detecting and patrolling over the Taiwan Straits since 1985.
