The R.O.C. Air Force Academy is the only institute of our country dedicated to training military fixed-wing airplane pilots, and also the only four-year university system that integrates aeronautics education and aviation training.
After cadets of the Flying Training Section complete the four-year university education and the cadets of the Professional Aviation Training Program complete the one-year military education, they will officially begin the flying training along the lines of flight. The first stage, basic flying training, takes half a year, and upon completion of the training, the cadets will be placed in the Combat Training Section or Air Transportation Training Section for advanced flying training according to their preference and grades. After the half-year advanced flying training, the cadets of the Combat Training Section will be sent to Zhihang Air Force Base to learn more sophisticated combat skills, while those of the Air Transportation Training Section will be re-organized to air carrier troops in Pingtung and Songshan or the Air Rescue Group (ARG) at Chiayi Base.
