On March 5, the Aeronautical and Astronautical Society of the Republic of China organized the “2016 Taiwan Innovative Unmanned Aircraft Design Competition: Flapping wing UAV Group” at the South Area Stadium of the R.O.C. Air Force Academy. The event was co-organized by Professor Choi Siu-tong of the NCKU Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics and Associate Professor Liang Yen-chu of the R.O.C. Air Force Academy Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics. Students from a total of seven schools took part in the competition, including R.O.C. Air Force Academy, Cheng Shiu University, R.O.C. Army Academy, and National Tainan First Senior High School. The two teams from the R.O.C. Air Force Academy Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics were comprised of seven cadets led by Assistant Professor Wang Chen-yu. Combining classroom knowledge and integrating theory with practice, the teams won first and second place in the Colleges and University category, respectively. At the closing ceremony, R.O.C. Air Force Academy Superintendent Peng Ming-yang served as the award presenter.
