History
The F-104G, made by the Lockheed Co. in 1951, set the record for supersonic fighter at a two Mach speed and altitude of 100 thousand feet, and was called “the last manned fighter”.
The F-104G was officially received on October 7, 1963, equipped with a J79-GE-11A axial-flow engine with maximum thrust power of 15,800 pounds (afterburner included). The maximum speed is 1,385 nautical miles per hour at altitude of 40,000 feet, and service ceiling is 550,000 feet. It was equipped with one M61 20-milimeter six-barrel Heat cannon, and was able to carry two or four sidewinder missiles or thirty-eight 2.75 inches rockets on wings up to 4,000 pounds. This No. 4344 aircraft had shot down a PROC’S Mig-19 on January 13, 1967 with accumulated flight time amount to 4635.20 hours, and was officially retired on February 12, 1991.
